Barbra Sonnen-Hernandez

BarbraSonnen-HernandezphotoBarbra Sonnen-Hernandez was born and raised in San Antonio, Tx. and was the city’s Miss Fiesta Alternate in 1977 and 1978. She attended San Antonio College majoring in Radio, Television and Film.

In 1993, Barbra Produced and Directed a children’s television program called “KIDS IDEAS” which aired on the Community Access Channel in Austin, Tx. Then from 1995 to 2001 it aired on the WB affiliate KNVA and NBC affiliate KXAN both in Austin, Tx.

On Feb. 6, 2008 Barbra became ill with a rare disease called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), she became 1 out of 7 in the world with the most severe case. She was in a four month coma during her six months in ICU and remained hospitalized for a year. Because of the miraculous healing from God, she was inspired to write a book about her experience with GBS titled “Why didn’t I die?”  and continues today writing books inspiring and motivating others.

She appeared on the 700 Club television show sharing her story, as well as several speaking presentations and book signings related to her spiritual experience and illness.

Barbra is on the Seton Healthcare and Ascension Health Patient Advisory steering committees. She graduated from the National Christian Counseling Association with a Certification in Christian Counseling.

Barbra has two daughters and lives in Georgetown Texas today with her husband.
